General description

Showy drumstick flowerheads every spring on sturdy stems above a rosette of semi- evergreen foliage, Hardy and perennial. Associates well with Spring bulbs.

Plant requirements

Sun or part shade in soil that does not dry out too much in Summer.  Plant in rock gardens, border fronts or by ponds.

Maintenance

Water regularly (especially in the first growing season). Remove faded flowers stems in early Summer to tidy the plant. Top dress in February with a little general fertiliser.
