General description

Native to the Eastern Deciduous Forests of USA.  In the Barberry Family. Has a single nodding waxy flower attached between and underneath large umbrella-like leaves. Ethereal.  Leaves last into mid-summer.

Plant requirements

Partial shade; damp loamy soil. Will tolerate some clay.

Maintenance

Spreads via underground rhizomes and makes lovely clusters.
