General description

Low, dense evergreen shrub. Outstanding planted as a ground cover under blueberries.  Bright red, tasty berries ripen in summer and make delicious jams and jellies.  Wonderful added to muffins and breads.

Plant requirements

Zone 2-7 full sun

Zone 7-9 afternoon shade

Soil: Moist, well drained soil. pH 3.5 - 5 with the use of an acid ferilizer -  sulfur or aluminum sulfate according to lable insructions.  Mulch heavily to keep roots cool and moist. Never use animal manures around acid loving plants.

Maintenance

Harvest: Late fall - September to October

Water:  Keep moist. Will not tolerate standing water.
