General description

Cypress vine (Ipomoea quamoclit), a flowering vine also known as star glory, produces star-shaped flowers in shades of pink, white or red, and thin, thread-like foliage. Native to tropical America, cypress vine requires warm weather to thrive, though gardeners around the world cultivate the plant as an annual during the summer months. Cypress vine's fast growth, attractive form and minimal care requirements have made it a favorite in the United States. Reaching up to 15 feet in a single season, the vine provides summer cover for fences and trellises, and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden.
