Strawberry Guava

General description

The most forgiving of fruit trees tolerating dry conditions and even some shade but still rewarding the gardener with plenty of sweet wine red berries high in Vitamin C for fresh eating or jams. An ideal screening shrub or small tree with handsome caramel coloured bark and red and white fluffy flowers.

Hardy plant, protect from frost when young.

Maintenance

The pungent aroma attracts fruit fly, so collect all fallen fruit to avoid a future problem.

Practical use

The fruit is beautiful eaten fresh, and makes a rich fragrant jam.
