Sturdy; highly-fluffed purple-red flower plumes opening from deep-red buds in mid-summer; red stems above robust bronze-green foliage. Like its cousin 'Visions' this plant is a very good, sun tolerant, compact grower. Excellent plants for borders, containers, the shade garden and edges of ponds. Good cut flowers.
Prefers shade to partial shade and fertile, moist soil. Adequate moisture is important, although, this species is more tolerant of drought and sun than other astilbes.
Easy to maintain. Spent flowers can be pruned to maintain a tidy appearance.
