Cuban Oregano

Plectranthus amboinicus  •

Photo: Cuban Oregano

This is a tender perennial plant with fleshy stems and fleshy, broad leaves. The leaves and stems are covered with hair; softly furry on the leaves, but sometimes rigid on the stems. The whole plant is aromatic, scented and flavoured like oregano. It prefers the tropics and subtropics, but can be grown in cooler climates as a houseplant, or if brought indoors through the colder months. It is fast-growing and propagated by stem cuttings.
