General description

Very hardy, tolerant plant which can grow in most difficult areas around th world. It's beautiful flowers in the spring make this a very loved specimen.

Plant requirements

Hardy, yet treat it as rhododendrons. Requires acid soil and does need to be watered regularly during summer. It can be planted in full sun, making it a must have for rhododendron collectors, the dark red clusters of flowers will paint the spring like no other.

Maintenance

Prune as little as possible, it is a very slow growing plant. Cut away dry blooms after they have flowered, this will increase the growth and health of the plant. If buds turn grey or brown quickly remove, if any disease appear on the leaves find a bordeaux solution to spray with from your gardening center, as the diseases and parasites tend to spread on all rhododendrons around.
