Keep the soil evenly moist. Keep the potting mix warm; use black plastic mulch until the weather heats up then switch to aluminum foil; this reflects heat but and light under the foliage which discourages aphids. Feed with a high phosphorus fertilizer diluted to half strength when plant begins to flower and then every other week until harvest.
