MULLED CLARET 18th cent recipe from Bath
This is a favourite for Christmas.
TAKE ONE QUART OF GOOD CLARET
2 ORANGES SLICED
12 SUGAR LUMPS
1 PINT OF BOILING WATER
1 WINE GLASS OF BRANDY
1 WINE GLASS OF ORANGE CURACAO
METHOD= Pour the Claret into a pan with the sliced oranges and sugar and cloves.
Place over heat and warm until it steams but DO NOT BOIL
Just before serving Add the water , Add the brandy ,Add the Orange Curacao
Serve in mulled wine glasses and sprinkle a little grated nutmeg on each one.
