  • Gigi S.Can I dig up a jade plant (about 36" wide) with all its roots intact and set it on top of the ground for about 18 hours before replanting it OR will this kill the plant? I have to replant the plant and cannot set it back in the soil until the next day. THANK YOU

  • Rosa G. Rosa G. Hi Gigi. Yes, it is possible to replant your jade plant the next day. If any parts break off, you can root them too for new plants.

Dig up the plant with a pitchfork and put the rootball in a garbage bag or a piece of plastic that covers the complete rootball for protection against wind and rain. Place the bag in a place where the hot sun cannot reach it - if you have any at the moment. If the soil looks dry it can be easier to water the plant in the morning and dig it up in the evening.

After replanting water the jade plant thoroughly so that any air pockets are gone.

Good luck with your jade plant! :-)
