  • Nancy C.I have a "gallery blue" lupine in my garden. Never have good luck with them, but I'm trying again. Live in Maine USA and we have very short growing seasons. Although they run wild in mid to northern Maine, my garden always seems to flake out. My question is after the flower has gone, can I use the big pods to reseed the plant? Are these seeds? And if so, how?

  • Barbara S. Barbara S. Hi, Nancy, I'm a newbie to this site, so bear with me!! If you split open a pod, there should be seeds inside. I think if you let the pods ripen on their own, they should pop open and self-seed. You might grab a pod or two, after they dry, and plant in the fall or spring. In Montana, the hillsides are just blanketed with lupines, and nobody does anything to help them along! You could try the Maine Botanical Garden for more info. Blessed Be!

  • Nancy C. Nancy C. Thank you, Barbara! I, too, am new to this website. The question about the lupines was my first. And I was thinking that they do reseed themselves. But I don't have too much confidence in that. I will pull off a couple pods tomorrow & check it out. Again, thank you for your input.

  • Ayat H. Ayat H. @NancyClark I also have the same problem but the thing is I live in India and I planted 3 plants on the same day. Italian basil, oregano and dill. I water them every day and once when the rain came I thought that the rainwater would help my plant grow but it didn't help. (Note: I planted them indoors)
