Roxana Thank you Cindy. Yes, this agave plant is the strange plant that grows a foxtail. It is still in my backyard .However the other agaves do not have this foxtail.

David R. It is the flower spike of the common agave. These plants tend to send up 1 flower spike at maturity and then die unless you cut it off and the sooner the bettet to save your plant
